Decorah Parks and Recreation invites the community to join our Winter Walkers program beginning Monday, January 1st! Winter Walkers is a fun way for folks of all ages to stay active, spend time outside, and stay motivated during the winter when we are oftentimes less likely to bundle up and head outdoors. The aim of this program is to get moving every day, so feel free to participate as a walker, runner, biker, or whatever keeps you moving!
Participate as an individual or create a pod (small group or family) and challenge yourself to get outside and walk every day. There is no cost to participate, participants should register online by completing THIS registration form.
Each week you will receive an email that includes suggested routes, fun challenges, and a link to each week’s walk log. Each submitted log is an entry into a drawing for a monthly prize. You are not required to walk/move a certain amount, but rather are encouraged to set weekly goals and to keep a personal log to track and celebrate your own accomplishments.

Join The Iowa Driftless Chapter of Trout Unlimited, Decorah Park-Rec., and Winneshiek County Conservation for a Free Fly Fishing Workshop Saturday, February 3, 2024.
This FREE workshop will be held in the Decorah High School Gymnasium from 10:00am- 12:00pm and is open to all ages.
Local casting instructors will discuss equipment, demonstrate basic casts, and will work with participants on their fly casting skills. Participants will be able to watch experts and learn how to tie their favorite flies.
There is no registration required, just show up!

The Decorah Parks and Recreation Department invites the community to attend the 26th Annual New Year’s Eve Bash sponsored by Decorah Bank & Trust and Gundersen Health System! This free family friendly event will be held Sunday, December 31, 5:30-9:30pm, in the Luther College Regents Center. The evening includes open swimming, basketball, tennis, pickleball, a Bouncy House for the little ones, and more. Concession items including pizza, popcorn, water and Gatorade will be available for purchase. Please enter the Luther College Regents Center using the circle drive entrance on the west side of the building.
NEW** kids receive a free Luther College t-shirt upon arrival. These shirts will grant you FREE entry into any Luther College sporting event for the 2024 calendar year (Jan. 1- Dec. 31)

2024 Whalen Cabin and picnic shelter reservation requests may be made beginning Tuesday, January 2, at 8:00 am. Reservation requests on January 2 must be made by calling 563-382-4158 and leaving a message with your name, phone number, and the date, time and facility you are requesting to reserve. Phone calls and messages will be returned in the order they are received. Messages received before 8:00 am Tuesday, January 2 will not be considered.
Whalen Cabin and picnic shelters in the Decorah Parks System can be rented during the following time slots; 9am-2pm, 3pm-10pm or all day. The cost to rent Whalen Cabin for one time slot is $60 and the cost to rent Whalen Cabin all day is $84. The cost to rent a picnic shelter is $12 per time slot and the cost to rent a picnic shelter all day is $18.
Rental fees must be paid at least one week in advance of the reservation date. Fees are non-refundable unless cancelled two weeks in advance. The key for Whalen Cabin must be picked up and rental agreement signed by 4pm Thursday if a weekend rental and 24 hours in advance if renting Monday thru Friday. Scout troops may use Whalen Cabin at no cost, however reservations must be made in advance. Picnic shelters not posted with a reserved sign may be used on a first come, first served basis.
