Run or walk in Decorah Parks & Recreation’s FREE pop-up 5k Saturday May, 4th thru Sunday May, 5th!
Participants will start/finish at the Dunning Springs Parking Lot, and will follow the signs along Ice Cave Road and into the lower portion of Palisades Park.
Participants will loop back around in Palisades following the paved section back to Ice Cave Road. From there you will have the option to follow Ice Cave Road back to the start, OR challenge yourself by following the River Trail just below Ice Cave Road!

Prescribed prairie burns will take place on parts of the Decorah Park System this spring. The burns will take place between April 4 and May 10.
Prescribed burns are an effective resource management tool utilized to discourage the growth of weeds and woody vegetation while promoting the growth of desired native vegetation in prairie restoration sites.

Decorah Parks and Recreation is proud to partner with Winneshiek County Conservation for a fun morning of environmental education activities, giveaways, and more!
The Earth Day Festival will be held from 9:00 AM to12:00 PM on Saturday, April 20th in the Community Building at the Winneshiek County Fairgrounds in Decorah, IA.
Decorah Parks and Recreation will have brochures, pamphlets and access to other activities for the whole family to enjoy!

This will be an on-going event through the entire March Madness Tournament for both men and women. Each participant is allowed to submit one bracket per tournament, one for men’s and one’s for women for a total of two brackets. You cannot submit two brackets within the same tournament.
Brackets will be submitted through ESPN’s Tournament Challenge no later than Wednesday, March 20th. Use the links and follow the prompts.
Points will be awarded to participants whose teams advance throughout the tournament. Participants with the most points will be eligible to win prizes!

Join us on Sunday, March 24th, beginning promptly at 3:00 pm, at Will Baker Athletic Fields. Children find plastic eggs filled with candy or prizes and all egg hunters receive participation gifts at the close of the Hunt. The Easter Bunny will also be there so bring your cameras! After you register online, please stop into the Park Rec office to pick up your Easter basket before the 24th!

Decorah Parks and Recreation invites the community to join our Winter Walkers program beginning Monday, January 1st! Winter Walkers is a fun way for folks of all ages to stay active, spend time outside, and stay motivated during the winter when we are oftentimes less likely to bundle up and head outdoors. The aim of this program is to get moving every day, so feel free to participate as a walker, runner, biker, or whatever keeps you moving!
Participate as an individual or create a pod (small group or family) and challenge yourself to get outside and walk every day. There is no cost to participate, participants should register online by completing THIS registration form.
Each week you will receive an email that includes suggested routes, fun challenges, and a link to each week’s walk log. Each submitted log is an entry into a drawing for a monthly prize. You are not required to walk/move a certain amount, but rather are encouraged to set weekly goals and to keep a personal log to track and celebrate your own accomplishments.
