Online Summer Registration extended to midnight on June 2

Online registration for summer recreation activities and swim lessons has been extended to midnight on Sunday, June 2.  This summer features a number of new activities and events including Free Yoga in the Park, Golf Camp, Drama Show Camp, and Pickleball Clinics. A complete list of all summer activities and swimming lessons is available in our Summer Activities Brochure and also on our online registration page.

 

 

 

 

Easter Egg Hunt Registration Deadline is April 1

Children 8 years and under are invited to participate and find plastic eggs filled with candy or toys.  They will also receive a participation gift at the close of the Hunt.  The Easter Bunny will be there, so bring your cameras!

The cost is $3 per child fee and must be paid in person at the Park-Rec. Office located at the Decorah Municipal Center.  There is a signup sheet/waiver for this event and each child who registers receives an official Easter basket which is their ticket into the Hunt.  The Easter Egg Hunt will take place at Phelps Park on Sunday, April 7, at 3 pm.

The Great Inflate & Pancake Breakfast

Join us for our second annual Great Inflate and Pancake Breakfast, Saturday, March 16, 10am-2pm in the Decorah High School gyms!

Participants can bounce, climb, slide, and run through 7 over-sized inflatables. This event features obstacle courses, a giant slide, toddler zone, and other inflatables provided by KidAgain Inflatable Fun Shows out of La Crosse. The Lions Club will be serving a pancake breakfast from 10am to 1pm for a free will offering that will support the Tree Bank and reforesting Decorah’s parks.

Registration is taken at the event, but forms can be filled out ahead of time and brought with you to speed up the process on the day of the event.  Click here to download a registration form. Cost is $5 per participant. Observers are free.

Spring Activity Registration Begins Feb 15

Registration for spring activities begins Friday, February 15. Activities include Soccer (3 years thru 7th grade), Active in the Outdoors (K-2nd grade), Taekwondo (4 years & up), as well as a number of special events.

Registration for activities can be completed online at https://www.activityreg.com/clientpage_t2.wcs?clientid=DECORAH&siteid=1  or in person at the Park-Rec Office.  Debit and credit cards are only accepted online.

Ice Rink opens at 1 pm Thursday

Due to early school dismissal, the Wayside Rink and warming house will open at 1:00 pm today (Feb 7).

Trout Fishing Workshop – Feb 9

The Iowa Driftless Chapter of Trout Unlimited, Decorah Parks & Recreation, and Winneshiek County Conservation will co-host this workshop on Saturday, February 9, from 9:00 am to noon in the Decorah High School Gym. Driftlesss Trout Unlimited members will discuss equipment and demonstrate basic casts with a fly or spinning rod. Participants can watch experts tie their favorite flies and find out how and when to fish them. Coffee and treats will be available. This workshop is free and open to anglers of all ages and levels of experience. 12 & under must be accompanied by an adult.

Superhero Sunday – Sun, Jan 27

Come dressed to impress as your favorite superhero and join us for this open house event on January 27th, from noon to 3:00 pm in the Carrie Lee Gym. Superhero Sunday will feature games, crafts, and an opportunity to meet some of the local heroes who keep our town safe. No pre-registration will be taken for this event, but participants will be asked to sign in when they arrive. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Please use the gym entrance just south of the Middle School on Winnebago Street. If wet or snowy please bring a change of shoes.

Ice Rink Remains Closed

Due to unseasonably warm temperatures the ice rink remain closed. Updates will be posted when conditions allow the rink to open for the season.

Free New Year’s Eve Bash

Join us for this fun, free, family friendly open house event in the 6:30-10:30pm Monday, December 31 in the Luther College Regents Center. The New Year’s Eve Bash will include open swimming, tennis, racquetball, basketball, pickleball, a bouncy house, and many other games and activities for all ages. Pizza, Gatorade, water and other snacks will be available for purchase. This event is sponsored by Decorah Bank & Trust and Gundersen Health System.

Please enter the Luther College Regents Center using the circle drive entrance on the west side of the building. No registration required, just show up.

Biddy Basketball Deadline is December 14

Friday, December 14, is the deadline to register for Decorah Park-Rec.’s Biddy Basketball Program.  This popular activity for ages 3 to 6 years takes place at the Carrie Lee Elementary Gym on Saturday mornings, January 12 through February 2.  Basic fundamentals of basketball are taught along with actual team competition.  Each Saturday consists of a skills session followed by a game.  Registration fee is $20 which includes a t-shirt.
