2023 Turkey Shoot Results

149 people participated in the 41st Annual Decorah Park-Rec. Turkey Shoot on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. This parent-child free throw contest was held in the Decorah High School gym.  Participants were divided into age categories based on the combined ages of the participating parent and child. A turkey was awarded to the top scoring team in each category.  Turkeys were provided by Decorah Fareway and other prizes were purchased with donations from Deco Products, The Family Table, Gunderson Health System, Collins Aerospace and Prairie Lakes Church.  Turkey and drawing prize winners should pick up their certificate or prize in the Park-Rec. Office, which is open Monday thru Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Please note the Park-Rec Office is closed Friday, November 10 in observance of Veterans Day.

The 41st Annual Decorah Park-Rec. Turkey Shoot will be held in the Decorah High School Main Gym on Tuesday, November 7, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. In this fun family event, a parent and child team up, combine their ages to determine their competition bracket, and each shoot 10 free throws in an attempt to win a certificate for a free turkey.

In addition, all teams are eligible for a prize drawing. Winning teams will be posted on the Park-Rec. website and Facebook page by 4:00 pm Wednesday, November 8.  This is a free activity, no need to register, just show up!

This event is sponsored by Deco Products Company, The Family Table Restaurant, Fareway, Gundersen Health System, Collins Aerospace, and Prairie Lakes Church.

Join us Saturday, October 28th for trick or treating at designated campsites within Pulpit Rock Campground. Campers will be identified by using caution tape!

This is a free, open house event runs 3:00pm – 5:00pm, and will also include yard games and popcorn.

Parking is limited at the Campground, additional parking is available at Will Baker Park.

Decorah’s Get-2-Gether (G2G) Committee, Decorah Parks and Recreation and Luther College Baseball invite adults with special needs to Luther College, October 21st from 11:30am- 1:00pm to enjoy food, music and games before kickoff! Participants should meet at the circle drive right outside of the Luther College Regents Center.

Following the tailgate at 1:00pm, participants will have free entry to the Luther College vs. Simpson Storm football game to cheer on the Norse.

Fall is harvest season and Decorah Parks and Recreation is hosting a Prairie Seed Harvest on Wednesday, October 11, 4:30-6:00 pm at the City Prairie.

The public is invited to help collect seed for establishing prairie on other city properties.

Participants will be able to take some seed home to plant in their own yards.

Proceeds benefit Decorah Parks and Recreation, further expanding recreational opportunities and resources in the Decorah area.

Fall COED Slowpitch begins Wednesday, September 6th at Decorah City Fields.

Spikesters Volleyball Sessions will run Saturdays, September 9th- October 14th, at Carrie Lee Gymnasium.

• Session #2  (5th- 6th grade)
  • 9:30am- 10:30am

Fall Baseball will run Sundays, September 10th- October 1st from 3:00pm- 5:00pm, at Decorah City Fields.

Art in the Park will begin Mondays, September 11th – October 2nd from 4:15pm- 5:00pm.
