We are bringing back the New Year’s Eve Bash! The Decorah Parks and Recreation Department invites the community to attend the 25th Annual New Year’s Eve Bash sponsored by Decorah Bank & Trust and Gundersen Health System! This free family friendly event will be held Saturday, December 31, 5:00-9:00pm, in the Luther College Regents Center. The evening includes open swimming, basketball, tennis, pickleball, a Bouncy House for the little ones, and more. Concession items including pizza, popcorn, water and Gatorade will be available for purchase. Please enter the Luther College Regents Center using the circle drive entrance on the west side of the building. No registration required, just show up!

Decorah Bank & Trust makes $50,000 challenge gift for newly established Decorah Parks and Recreation Endowment Fund
The Decorah Parks and Recreation Board has established a new permanent endowment fund with the Winneshiek County Community Foundation (WCCF), an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa (CFNEIA), to support the future of the Decorah Park System. The purpose of the endowment fund is to help maintain and enhance Decorah’s many parks and trails, its recreational facilities, the campground and swimming pool. The Parks and Recreation Board established the fund with an initial $10,000 investment.

2015 was a year of many FIRSTS! January – released department’s first newsletter. May – the first slide at the swimming pool was removed with plans of installing a new slide in time for the 2016 season. July – for the first time ever, Decorah was selected to host the Iowa Parks and Recreation Association Fall Workshop. It will be held in September 2016. September – Hosted Decorah’s first Touch A Truck event. Over 500 individuals attended this free, open house event featuring vehicles and machinery from many city departments and local businesses. November – launched our first online registration system and our first Park-Rec. video.

2014 was filled with new programs, park improvements, and facility updates, but it is only through the many people, businesses, and organizations that support our department that we are able to provide you with these services and facilities.
